Timothy Cooley Wood Civil War Correspondence, 1861 June 18-Oct. 5.

Eight letters written by Timothy Wood, Corporal of Company K, 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment to his sisters at home in Brownhelm Station, Ohio. Wood enlisted at age 22 in June 1861 and died on November 22, 1862 [or November 13, 1861] from battle injuries. His letters speak of mustering, camp life, housing and provisions, officers, marching, and details of the regiment's engagement under General Rosencrans at Carnifix Ferry, Virginia on September 10, 1861 against Confederate General John B. Floyd. Two letters are written on printed stationery, another enclosed in a printed envelope. Typed transcripts are included.
